… say many MDAs, multinational corporations evade taxes

Former Speaker House of Representatives Rt. Hon Yakubu Dogara, and the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Center CISLAC a civil society organisation, have drummed support for the new tax reform law passed by the National Assembly and assented to by President Bola Tinubu.
The former Speaker and the Executive-Director CISLAC Mr Auwal Musa Rafsinjani gave their support on the tax reform law 2025 separately in a lecture and goodwill message at the inaugural distinguished parliamentarian lecture organized by the House of Representatives Press Corps National Assembly in Abuja on Tuesday.
While Dogara said that the new tax reform law is a bold initiative that needs the support of Nigerians by the government of President Bola Tinubu, CISLAC said that the organization supports the tax reform bill because they want our taxation system and tax administration to be very effective, transparent and accountable.
The former speaker of the 8th House of the National Assembly said that tax reform law has consolidated sixteen obsolete tax legislations into four reformed tax laws
The civil society organization also noted that there are currently many ministries, departments and agencies of the federal government and multinational corporations and other entities that are evading the payment of taxes in Nigeria.
The organization called on the media organizations in both Senate and House of Representatives to engage to continue to offer public for a for citizens engagement on the tax reform law 2025.
According to them, the goal of the tax reform laws is ambitious and firm as it was aimed at rejuvenation and regulating of our nation’s economy.
Also in his opening remarks, Speaker of the House Rt.Hon.Tajudeen Abass said that the tax reform law 2025 has provided the framework for fiscal reforms in the nation’s political economy.
Represented by the House Spokesman Hon.Akin Rotimi Jnr the speaker said that President Bola Tinubu had taken a bold step to reform the nation’s tax laws
The Inuagural Parliamentarian Lecture with the theme: ‘Navigating Tax Reforms In Nigeria: Insights on President Bola Tinubu’s Policies’ was delivered by the former speaker of the House Rt.Hon.Yakubu Dogara.
