A wave of inspiration swept through Silversands Hall School on Thursday, May 29th, as students, educators, and thought leaders gathered for the 2025 edition of the STRIVE Conference, themed “Dream. Act. Achieve.”

‘Now in its fourth year, the conference, convened by Dr. Nimi Ekere, Consultant Family Physician, Child Advocate, Author, and Founder of the Smile and Shine Children’s Foundation, brought together adolescents aged 10–18 from schools, across Lagos for a transformative day of learning, empowerment, and self-discovery.

“Though Pastor Shyngle Wigwe, Father of the Day, was unavoidably absent, the event moved forward with tremendous impact, drawing praise for its thoughtful programming and powerful speakers.

During the recent conference, several dynamic facilitators captivated the audience, fully embodying the event’s theme of “Dream. Act. Achieve.” Their contributions not only sparked inspiration but also encouraged attendees to reflect on their potential and aspirations.

One of the standout speakers, Barrister Temilolu Okeowo, a passionate lawyer and dedicated gender activist, delivered a powerful and motivating call to action. Through her engaging address, she challenged students to recognize and embrace their individuality, stressing the importance of standing out rather than conforming to societal expectations. Okeowo urged the audience to reject mediocrity and instead strive for excellence, emphasizing that each person’s uniqueness is a gift to be celebrated and harnessed for positive change. Her words resonated with many, igniting a sense of purpose among the students.

She shared compelling anecdotes and strategies that depicted the importance of thinking beyond limitations. Mrs. Obafisoye emphasized the power of imagination and the necessity of dreaming without boundaries, inspiring students to pursue their goals with passion and determination.

Adding to the lineup of impactful speakers was Mrs. Ibiwari Osuigwe, Head of School at Silversands Hall School. She delivered a stirring presentation that captivated the audience with its emotional depth and sincerity. Osuigwe tackled the challenges faced by young people today and offered insights into how they can navigate these obstacles with resilience and hope.
