Assets Protection: Ondo NSCDC, FAAN on partnership

DAMISI OJO, Akure

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State command, has formalized a strategic partnership with the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to enhance the protection of critical National Assets and Infrastructures within and around the Akure Airport.

The FAAN Manager at the Olumuyiwa Bernard Aliu Airport, Akure, Mrs. Yemisi Adebiyi, with her team, visited the State Commandant in Akure, the state capital, for the deal.

The strategic visit focused on strengthening the existing relationship between the aviation sector and the Corps in addressing emerging security challenges within and around the Akure airport.

While speaking during the meeting, Mrs. Yemisi commended the Commandant and the officers, particularly operational officers and Agro Rangers officers, deployed to the airport for a good job done in safeguarding the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure.

She noted that this was not only at the airport but across the state, expressing appreciation for the synergy between the NSCDC Ondo Command and FAAN.

To enhance security at the Olumuyiwa Bernard Aliu Airport, Akure, she requested for more officers, especially at the Agro Tower, to help curb security challenges around the airport.

According to her, they have been getting intelligence reports on kidnappers lurking around the airport, and to also checkmate operations of cattle rearers, they need to maintain the airport as a safe environment for all.

Commandant Oluyemi Ibiloye in his response, assured the team of the Corps’ readiness to deploy personnel to the airport to enhance safety and security, promising that the heads of Operations and Agro Rangers will work together to ensure this is done.

He also encouraged them to use electronic security.

Ibiloye said,” While physical security is being put in place, electronic security such as drones and CCTV cameras should also be paired with physical security to ensure a balanced form of security.”

The Commandant pledged his continued support in ensuring the protection of the aviation sector.

He said ” this is not just because it is a part of our core mandate, but because it is essential and must be done”.
