A top-ranking member of the House of Representatives, Hon.Wole Oke is optimistic that the All Progressives Congress(APC) will take over Bola Ige House, Abere, Osogbo, after winning the 2026 governorship election in Osun State.
According to him, the victory will be landslide and unprecedented in the history of Governorship polls in the state.
Oke, the fifth-term legislator at the Green Chamber of the National Assembly recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)to the APC.
The chairman,House Committee on Foreign Affairs who spoke in a radio programme,hails from Esa-Oke in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun state.
The sudden defection of the colourful politician from the PDP to APC has gingered mass exodus of PDP supporters in his Ward Seven, Esa-Oke, Obokun local government, Ijesa North/South federal constituency,Osun East Senatorial District and Osun state as a whole.
Besides,the lawmaker/lawyer boldly assured President Bola Tinubu of clear winning in the 2027 general elections.
His words” Mr President should go and sleep with his two eyes closed, I can unequivocally boast that Osun State will already be in his kitty come 2026.
By 2027, we are confident of delivering one million votes for PBAT,” Oke used the opportunity to apologize to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former governor of the state, Adegboyega Oyetola, for working against his re-election in 2022.
According to him, his defection to the APC would pave the way for the correction of past political misjudgements.
The longest-serving House of Representatives member lamented the current state of governance in Osun, recalling that Oyetola, despite facing challenges like COVID-19 and limited revenue, managed state affairs prudently without borrowing during his tenure.
The lawmaker claimed that the total revenue and budget handled by the Oyetola administration over four years was less than what the current government has received in just two years, especially following the removal of fuel subsidy.
Oke eulogized President Tinubu and Oyetola for appointing Osun indigenes into strategic national positions, which he noted had contributed largely to the political relevance of the state at the federal level.
