FCTA EXCO Approved 19 projects to enhance Abuja’s Infrastructure

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Executive Committee (EXCO) has greenlit 19 pivotal projects to enhance the city’s infrastructure, security, and environment.

The Chief of Staff to the FCT Minister, Chidi Amadi reaffirmed who spoke to newsmen shortly after the EXCO meeting said
this development is part of a broader initiative to accelerate the transformation of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

According Amadi, the projects were approved during the 14th FCT EXCO meeting held in Abuja. “A total of 13 memos were presented, with 19 critically examined and approved, focusing on sustaining infrastructural growth and upgrading Abuja,” he stated.

He explained that, the approved projects include:Upgrading obsolete streetlights along the 14-kilometer Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway,
Construction of a new magistrate court at Jabi, Pedestrian access control and fencing at 12 interchanges,Road and drainage construction in Durumi District.

Also among theprojectsare,Infrastructure development in Mabushi District,
renovation and technical upgrades at the Department of State Security (DSS) headquarters, and
Emergency erosion control project to protect a major pipeline.

The Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC) also secured approvals for three major service contracts worth approximately N2.6 billion, aimed at improving environmental sanitation and sewage infrastructure.

The FCT Administration’s efforts aim to revitalize Abuja’s infrastructure, enhance public safety, and ensure sustainable urban management.

The approvals reflect the administration’s commitment to creating a more resilient and efficient capital city.
