Suspected gunmen abduct Ondo APC Local Council Chairman

DAMISI OJO, Akure

The spate of kidnapping has been on the increase in Ondo state as the state police command on Tuesday confirmed the abduction of Nelson Adepoyigi, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ward 5 in Ifon, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Spokesperson of the command, Olusola Ayanlade, in a statement issued on Tuesday, said Mr Adepoyigi was kidnapped at the entrance of his farm along Ifon-Owo road.

He said police detectives, in collaboration with local hunters and military personnel, have launched a manhunt for the suspects with a view to rescuing the victim

Ayanlade urged anyone with information that could assist in the rescue operation, advising them to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities

In the last two months, no fewer than five cases of kidnapping have been reported,d especially in Akure North local government and Akoko areas of the state.
