The President of the Organisation for Technology Advancement of Cold Chain in West Africa (OTACCWA), Mr Alex Isong, has been appointed into the World Agriculture Forum (WAF) Council.
OTACCWA disclosed this in a statement to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos.
NAN reports that OTACCWA was established to promote and facilitate the development of the cold chain in Nigeria and West Africa.
The World Agriculture Forum, headquartered in the Netherlands, is a distinguished global platform modeled after the World Economic Forum, committed to shaping the future of agriculture through innovation, dialogue, and collaboration.
The statement said the appointment was as a result of Isong’s commitment in promoting zero post-harvest losses in Nigeria and West Africa through cold-chain initiatives.
“We are proud to announce that Mr. Alexander Isong, President of OTACCWA, has been officially appointed to the World Agriculture Forum Council.
“WAF as a forum convenes prominent leaders — including policymakers, chief executive officers, global experts, and development institutions — to address urgent global challenges in food and nutrition security, sustainable practices, agri-tech advancement, policy formulation, and trade.
“Isong’s appointment is a recognition of his visionary leadership in strengthening cold chain infrastructure and agricultural development across West Africa.
“His role on the Council will further amplify Africa’s voice in global agricultural discourse and policy-making,” it said.
The statement further reiterated Isong’s commitment to promoting the agenda of cold-chain sector and reducing post-harvest losses in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
“As a Council Member, he will contribute to shaping the Forum’s agenda, promoting international cooperation, and championing strategic investments to build a more sustainable and resilient agricultural future for all,” it added.
