The Ministry of Foreign Affairs MFA has dismissed as fake all the recruitment portals, e-mails and website addresses being circulated in some media outlets purported to be issued and signed by the Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar.
Spokesperson of the Ministry, Mr Kimiebi Ebinefa who addressed a press conference on Wednesday at the Minister’s conference hall in Abuja said that neither the minister nor the image maker signed any document on staff recruitment.
He said that the attention of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had been drawn to a fake recruitment portal and website that said that the Ministry had advertised vacancies for the recruitment of Foreign Service Officers.
He however disclosed that the release which carried the recruitment vacancies and the Minister’s name and signature is fake as the Ministry does not recruit its Foreign Service Officers directly.
According to him, the recruitment of Foreign Service Officers and other senior officers of the Ministry is carried out by the Federal Civil Service Commission, FCSC.
He said: “the release which the fake recruitment advertisers put as signed by the Minister is fake. We want to put on record that the ministry is not currently recruiting”.
He said that it is worrisome that some of the fake recruitment portals, emails and websites are asking prospective applicants to pay N165,800 for the processing of their diplomatic passports
He added that these fake sites and websites are assuring the applicants that after the payment to these sites, they would be deployed to the embassies and foreign missions which is not tenable.
While assuring that the ministry is currently investigating this matter, he also said that the security agencies had been intimated and would be invited to track and apprehend the persons behind these fake recruitment portals and websites.
