.’No longer a dream, it’s a done deal’

The Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District in the Red Chamber said he was satisfied with the endorsement of the proposed Anioma State by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Umar Ganduje.
Ganduje made the declaration at Agbor during a rally organized by the party recently.
Senator Ned Nwoko broke the news while speaking to newsmen at his country home, Idumuje-Ugboko, in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.
He said he decided to leave Delta’s ruling Peoples Democratic Party for the APC, following the assurances he received that the present administration of President Bola Tinubu would create Anioma State from the present Delta State, complete the Ogwashi-Uku multi-purpose dam, and complete the Okpai power project to ensure constant power supply to the people of Ndokwa-Ukwuani and environs.
Senator Nwoko emphasized that it was not because of the 2027 general elections that he joined the APC, as being speculated, but that he would achieve more for the people of Delta North Senatorial District under the ruling national APC of President Tinubu.
He said, “APC National Chairman, senators, and other critical stakeholders discussed with me. They all made promises to me. We sat down and discussed. You can’t just wake up to leave PDP and join APC.”
“For instance, the Federal Government will complete the Okpai power project to make light available, and also complete the Ogwashi-Uku multi-purpose dam.”
“Some people say I joined APC because of the election. It is not true. Nobody told me about the election. We still have over two years before 2027.”
“But the most important thing they told me is that they are with me all the way for the creation of Anioma State. This is all that interests me.”
“For the first time, Anioma has come this far in the fight for statehood. With Anioma State, we will have our own governor, our own senators, and increased federal presence,” he said.
He highlighted the broader implications, including job creation, infrastructure development, and increased federal allocations.
“This is about giving our youths a future — more schools, better roads, hospitals, and greater opportunities,” Nwoko stated.
According to the Senator, the proposal has already gained support from influential national figures, including the President, members of the Senate, and other stakeholders across Nigeria.
“The leadership of this country recognizes the importance of this cause. They’ve told us: push from your end, and we will help you get it through.”
“We want a state where our people can thrive and contribute more meaningfully to Nigeria’s progress,” Nwoko added.
Senator Nwoko, who is in seventeen different Senate committees and Chairman of the Senate Ad Hoc Committee Against Crude Oil Theft, affirmed his commitment to the sponsorship of relevant legislations that would positively impact the socio-economic development of the country and the wellbeing of his constituents.
Recall that thousands of APC members, chieftains, and supporters gathered at Agbor for solidarity with the party, as well as for the creation of Anioma State from the present Delta State, with the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, publicly endorsing the creation of Anioma State as a “done deal” backed by the APC leadership and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Alhaji Ganduje, who described the move to create Anioma State as a step toward national unity, equitable development, and correcting historical imbalances — especially in Delta North — assured the Anioma people that the APC was fully committed to the realization of their age-long agitation.
“I bring you assurances from President Tinubu, our governors, the National Assembly, and the entire APC structure. Anioma State is no longer a dream, it is a done deal,” he said.
