. As FCTA records 95% budget performance in 2024

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ajao S. Adewale,, urges all residents of the Federal Capital Territory to obey traffic regulations and contribute to the collective responsibility of maintaining peace, order, and public safety.

In a statement from the Command Headquarters, CP Adewale emphasized that respecting traffic laws is a fundamental civic duty that ensures not only individual safety but also promotes national development. He reiterated the importance of public cooperation in enabling the Police to carry out their duties effectively.

The CP stressed that parking and other road signs must be strictly obeyed to facilitate the smooth flow of traffic and reduce congestion, particularly in busy areas. He also called on members of the public to desist from street trading and selling on the roads, warning that such activities obstruct traffic, endanger lives, and contribute to accidents and traffic congestion on the roads.

“The police are not adversaries; we are partners in progress,” CP Adewale stated. “Respect for officers, obedience to traffic regulations, and refraining from illegal roadside activities are vital to creating a safer, more organized FCT.”

He further warned that anyone found assaulting or obstructing officers especially those performing traffic and public safety duties will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

Meanwhile, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Dr Nyesom Wike has disclosed that the FCT Administration had recorded an impressive 95% performance of the 2024 budget.

This feat is notable, considering the budget’s substantial size of N1.1 trillion.

Wike’s statement underscores the administration’s commitment to effective project implementation.

“In terms of implementation of the 2024 budget, I can tell you we have done not less than 90 – 95 percent of the budget. But that is history.
That has never happened before,” he stated.

Wike who disclosed this during inspection of some ongoing projects in the Territory, revealed that the 2024 budget, extended to June, has not faced funding hindrances, with projects proceeding as scheduled.

The 2024 budget, valued at N1.15 trillion, aims to transform Abuja and its rural communities. Wike assured that the National Assembly’s recess would not impede project implementation, stating, “The budget has been conveyed to the National Assembly, and we will defend the 2025 Appropriation Bill when they resume on April 29.”

This accomplishment demonstrates a significant milestone in the territory’s development.

The minister’s inspection of ongoing projects showcases his dedication to ensuring the successful execution of the budget. With this achievement, the FCT Administration sets a strong precedent for future budget implementation.

The Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of ongoing projects in the territory, citing impressive work quality.

“Frankly speaking, we are very impressed with what was scheduled.The contractors who are handling these various jobs have lived up to expectations and we are also doing our part by making sure payments are also made,so that there will not be delays from either of the sides.

“So the quality of jobs seems quite impressive. Iam so happy with theInternational Conference Centre ICC.Those of you who knew how it was and see what it is today will be impressed that yes, that conference centre is coming back to what it is supposed to be”, he added.
