Two escape death as one-storey building collapses in Lagos

Tragedy was averted on Sunday when a one-storey building under construction collapsed at Garawu Street, off Aroloya Central Mosque, Idumota, Lagos State.

 

This was contained in a statement signed by Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Authority, LASEMA, disclosing that two adult males were rescued alive.

 

The statement partly read, “Upon arrival of LASEMA’s Shark Response Team at the incident scene at 1416hrs, it was discovered that a storey building under construction self-collapsed at the aforementioned location.

 

“Preliminary investigations conducted at the incident scene could not reveal the immediate cause of the incident.

 

“Further investigations would be conducted to unravel the immediate and remote cause of the incident.

 

It added, “No casualties were recorded as a result of the incident.”

 

The law enforcement agencies have been given charge of crowd control and security while search and rescue operation has been concluded.
