Rivers Govt denies appointing Wike’s staunch man, Nwanosike as RIWAMA Sole Administrator

EMMANUEL NLEWEDUM, Port Harcourt

The Rivers State Government has denied appointing Chief Samuel Nwanosike, one of the strongest supporters of the FCT Minister, as the Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency, RIWAMA.

The state government also dismissed reports of a proposed recruitment of 10,000 persons into the state civil service.

The Secretary to Rivers State Government, SSG, Prof. Ibibia Worika, in a statement, urged residents of the State to be wary of fake news peddlers who intend to misinform residents of the state about appointments and other decisions of the Sole Administrator, Ibok-Ete Ibas.

The SSG while speaking in Government House sternly refuted the alleged appointment of Mr Samuel Nwanosike by the Sole  Administrator of the State, Vice Admiral (Rtd.) Ibok-Ete Ibas.

The rumoured appointment of Nwanosike, a die-hard supporter of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, as the Sole Administrator of RIWAMA, went viral on social media, in a statement purportedly issued by the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd).

Similarly, two days ago, news circulated on social media that the Sole Administrator has begun moves to recruit 10,000 workers in the state.

But the SSG in a statement issued by the Head, Press Unit of the office of the SSG, categorically refuted the appointment of Mr Nwanosike and proposed the recruitment of 10,000 persons into the state civil service.

He urged everyone to disregard the unfounded speculations and rely on official Government sources for accurate information.

“We wish to categorically inform the good people of Rivers State and the general public to ignore the fake announcements”, he emphasized.

“Be informed that all official communications from the Office of the Administrator of Rivers State have appropriate channels through which they are circulated; pay attention to such channels,” he stressed.

He added that the government remains steadfast in its pursuit of a peaceful, prosperous and united state.
