With few days to the Easter celebration, Security heads in Anambra State have assembled a formidable force against violent crimes in the state as it sets plans in motion to launch “Operation Udo Ga-Achi Zero Kidnapping.
The Service Commanders involved in the move include, Army from 302 Artillery Regiment (GS), the Navy from the Naval Outpost, Department of State Security (DSS), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Services (NIS).
Others are, Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Nigeria Customs and Anambra State Vigilante led by the Police.
According to a press release by the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the security heads during a closed door meeting at the office of the State Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu over the weekend, unanimously set up a formidable force against crimes in the State code-named “Operation Udo Ga Chi – Zero Kidnapping and other violent crimes in the State.
His statement read in part, “The timing of this operation, coinciding with the Easter season celebrations, underscores the Security Force’s dedication to maintaining peace and security during the festive periods and beyond.
“This initiative aims to prevent all violent and/or related crimes, especially kidnapping, by ensuring a safer environment for residents and visitors during this Easter period and beyond.
“The Operations shall focus on Community engagement, working closely with the public to gather intelligence and prevent crimes, fostering trust and cooperation between law enforcement and the community.
“It is also a commitment to a proactive policing strategy, that is community-based and community driven to tackle security challenges in Anambra State.”
The CP noted that by working together, the Police aims to create a safer and more secure environment for all.
