The Chancellor of Trinity University, Yaba, Lagos, Prince Samuel Adedoyin has expressed confidence in Nigeria’s future, urging the youths to tap into the numerous opportunities of the nation.
Adedoyin noted that young Nigerians are already achieving great feats in the digital world, charging others to explore the new technology world.
He spoke at the weekend, during the 3rd convocation ceremony of Trinity University. Out of the 122 graduating students, 28 of them obtained first-class honours across different departments.
The Chancellor admonished the fresh graduates not to give up on Nigeria but rather see themselves as change-makers needed by the nation to get to the promised land.
Adedoyin charged them to follow the examples of other Nigerian youths making waves in different fields despite the economic state.
He said, “I urge you to remember that Nigeria’s future is bright and that the possibilities are endless. Young Nigerians are making waves globally, achieving feats that inspire and motivate us. From innovative tech startups to groundbreaking scientific discoveries, our youth are proving that they have what it takes to succeed on the world stage.
“You must continue along this trajectory, projecting your family name and the name of your university. I challenge you to be the change-makers, the leaders, and the innovators that Nigeria needs.
“Don’t be discouraged by the challenges we face as a nation; instead, see them as opportunities to make a difference. Trinity University has given you the foundation. You have the skills, the knowledge, and the passion to drive positive change and make a difference.”
On his part, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Clement Kolawole, said the convocation is a beginning of greater things for the new graduates.
Prof. Kolawole urged them to be focused, disciplined and put to work the skills and good character they have learnt from the institution.
“They should not forget the values we have inculcated into them. The sky is just the beginning not the limit for our graduates.
“We look forward to seeing our graduates turn the landscape of Nigeria around positively,” he said.
At the convocation, the university conferred an honorary doctorate in business and management on the President of the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria, Arch. Dipo Ajayi.
Prof. Kolawole said Ajayi was selected for the honour because of his humanitarian service and his commitment to professionalism.
In his acceptance speech, the ARCON President described the recognition as a personal milestone and a call to service, pledging to uphold the values of the institution and provide continuous support.
He instituted a scholarship scheme for the outstanding first-year nursing student of the institution beginning from the next session, in honour of his wife.
