Oyadare Emmanuel Gbolahan, known professionally as JoBlaq, was born on July 14, 2004 in Lagos Mainland, Nigeria. Raised in a Christian household, his early years were steeped in the sounds, stories, and social experiences of Lagos. These elements would later inform both his comedic content and musical compositions.
He attended private primary and secondary schools before studying at Crawford University. Without access to studios or expensive equipment, JoBlaq used his environment and a smartphone to create content. From skits to music demos, his early efforts reflected both resourcefulness and an understanding of the community he represented.
JoBlaq’s creative journey has always been collaborative. One of his most consistent partners is Habeeb Hamzat, known online as Peller, a TikTok and widely-followed livestreamer with over 10 million followers  . Peller’s livestream collaboration with Afrobeats icon Davido drew nearly 390,000 concurrent viewers, with JoBlaq and Jarvis (Jadrolita) present as part of that broadcast . This moment highlighted the collective energy of their creative group, later known as Cityplug Allstars.
The Cityplug Allstars also include influencers such as Porkiyor and M’Kiddo, alongside Jarvis, who have supported each other’s growth through shared resources, audience crossover, and collaborative projects. Their unity is credited in media reports and online coverage about the group embarking on a UK tour.
These relationships have helped JoBlaq consistently recreate and expand his digital presence, even after losing multiple TikTok accounts. Drawing on mutual support, he rebuilt his audience not just alone but as part of a creative team that reinforced each member’s voice and brand.
JoBlaq attributes his resilience to both his upbringing and these creative alliances. They inform his approach to content creation, grounded in Nigerian culture, shaped by peer collaboration, and driven by shared ambition.
Today, JoBlaq continues to leverage his Lagos roots, team partnerships, and independent approach in skit making music, live streaming, and touring. His story exemplifies how a strong background and collective effort can propel a modern creator in Nigeria’s digital entertainment space.
