Indications emerged yesterday that the consensus arrangement being perfected by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State has suffered a set back as immediate past Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and gubernatorial hopeful, Dr. Mustapha Inuwa, disclosed that all the contenders were preparing for this Friday’s primary election.
Inuwa, who made this known in an interactive session with some journalists in katsina, however dismissed the prospect of consensus option with assurance that whoever would emerge victorious at the poll would be supported by other contenders.
On the concerns that the latest aspirant with the deepest pocket may win the race, Inuwa, who was the Katsina APC pioneer chairman said: “I am not afraid, I am not bothered about money politics, people can give money but the delegates will vote according to their conscience.”
He spoke further: “I am confident that I will emerge victorious. I have solid support of more than two – third of the APC card carrying members. So, I am confident; I am only waiting for the poll.”
The APC stalwart, who insisted that he had never considered seeking any political office on a do -or- die basis, said “defection is usually by desperate politicians, especially after loosing elections. I am not desperate, we are the founding fathers of APC in Katsina.”
