As the political cloud is gradually clearing towards 2023 general elections, Akwa Ibom steering committee of a pressure group, Support Tinubu Group (TSG), has called on Nigerians, irrespective of religion, creed and political affiliation to come together to make Jagaban Ahmed Tinubu the next president of Nigeria.
A member of the group, Hon. Ifiok Inyang made the call in a solidarity press conference which he hosted in Uyo on Friday at Apples Hotel and Resort.
Presenting a – four – page text at the press conference which was well attended by members of the group across the thirty one local government areas of the state and selected journalists., the host used the opportunity to thank their principal, Jagaban Ahmed Tinubu for heeding the overwhelming calls by Nigerians to join the presidential race for 2023 general elections.
“We thank our leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for heeding the vociferous call of Nigerians across ethno- religious divides, across demographics, across economic and cultural strata to run for president in 2023”, he stated.
In the same token, he commended  Nigerians who he said “made and kept making the calls until they were  heard and heeded”.
The former commissioner in  Ethical Reorientation commission during the tenure of Sen. Godswill Obot Akpabio as Governor of Akwa Ibom state, reeled out antecedents of Bola Tinubu which made him most qualified for the job and the only president that will steer Nigeria out of the woods of economic woes the country is presently facing, if elected.
” Bola Tinubu risked his life when he joined forces with other compatriots in NADECO to chase away the military from the political scene and install democracy.,”
” As governor of Lagos State (1999-2000), he created  additional development councils to elasticize the frontiers of development in Lagos State. This didn’t go down well with Obasanjo Presidency. Thus that government at the center withheld allocation meant for local governments in Lagos State. He took the matter to court and won fair and square.
“Again, when PDP bragged to tenaciously hold unto power for 60 years, Tinubu stepped forward and joined forces with other compatriots to berth machinery that ushered in Buhari government.
The presidential cap fits his head. Let him wear it.”
Hon. Inyang who was giving above synopsis to illustrate the fact that Tinubu, if given opportunity can repeat what he did to sustain Lagos State when federal allocation was stiffened, by sustaining the country with internally generated revenue without resorting to external borrowing.
“Also, as a governor of Lagos State, he appointed some of his personal assistants from other states and non indigenes who have resided long enough in the state were allowed  to vie for elective positions in both state and council legislatures,” he added.
On the comment by Bode George, describing declariation of Bola Tinubu as a huge joke, he said he is entitled to his opinion, adding “we in (TSG) don’t think so.”
Speaking separately, J. T. Gambles, Chris Enoch, Bishop Ekpe James, and Umoren Akpakpan, corroborated the previous speaker, aggreeing that if Tinubu is voted the next president no state in the federation will be marginalized, including Akwa Ibom state.
The attendees cut across professionals like medical doctors, top class politicians, lawyers and what have you, indicating the fact that if not Tinubu is the choice of all.  If not Tinubu, who else?.
