2023 Elections: DSS Preaches Against, Thurgery, Violence and Hate Speech.

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, salted for February and March 2022 by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, the Department of State Services DSS on Wednesday called on Nigerians irrespective of tribe, culture, religion or other diversities to shun all forms of electoral violence and play by its rules.

 

 

In a special media message document issued by its Public Relations Officer Dr. Peter Afunanya the secret service said that all Nigerians should rise and defeat violence, other crimes and sabotage against the peace of our nation.

 

 

In the document the DSS reminded Nigerians that elections is around the corner again and advised all classes of citizens to shun violence and play the game according to the rules

 

It reads: “Nigerian, Elections are here again.Let us shun violence. Let us play the game according to the rules.Do not be a thug.Say no to violence. Let us rise and defeat violence, crime and sabotage against the peace of our nation”

 

According to the Service, Nigeria is the only country we have and we must do everything to keep it united.

 

Nigerias the DSS image maker said must avoid any act that promotes hate and disintegration.

 

They must watch out for strange gatherings, suspicious movements. The people must say no to seperatiat movement, terrorism, fake news, hate speech, religious bigotry and any act that tends to divide us as a nation.

 

The secret service further called on journalists as media practioners to always verify information the publish or broadcast so as to avoid heating up the polity unnecessary.

 

It also enjoins the public to always apply relevant legal and security guidelines to protect themselves and the people within the territory.

 

While assuring them of readiness to address internal security challenges, it also assures of constant collaboration with sister security agencies to  tackle and arrest perpetrators of crimes as ritual killings, kidnaping armed Robert and other heinous crimes.

 

The DSS spoksman also enjoins the citizens of Nigeria to report all suspicious movements and persons to the security agencies nearest to them.

 

He further provided three dedicated phone lines 08132222105, 09153391309 and 09088373514 to citizens to report or pass all security information to the agency or alternatively e-mail information to dsspr@gov.ng
