Alogo, one of Nigeria’s foremost voices in artificial intelligence and robotics for operations and supply chain transformation, has launched a bold new initiative that is rewriting the future for young people in some of the nation’s most underserved regions. In Sokoto, Bauchi, and Kogi States, he has introduced a grassroots tech inclusion program focused on hands-on robotics training and AI education—the first of its kind in many of these communities.
Rather than beginning in the usual innovation hubs of Lagos or Abuja, Alogo’s project deliberately reaches into regions that are historically overlooked in Nigeria’s technology narrative. In partnership with local schools, traditional leaders, youth associations, and state education ministries, he has established community-based innovation labs, equipped with basic robotics kits, learning materials, laptops, and low-power servers that can function in areas with unreliable electricity. The program, aptly named “AI for All,” offers students aged 12 to 25 a practical introduction to robotics engineering, sensor programming, machine learning logic, and the principles of automation—all taught in a way that blends global knowledge with local understanding.
In a converted classroom in Zaki-Biam, Bauchi State, a group of secondary school students recently completed their first self-built robot: a line-following cart made from repurposed plastic wheels, Arduino boards, and sensors. Importantly, the initiative also emphasizes inclusion across gender and background. In each training center, at least 50% of the participants are young women—a deliberate effort to break the historical underrepresentation of girls in STEM education. Local teachers are also being trained, not just to deliver content, but to eventually own and expand the program, ensuring long-term sustainability. In collaboration with nearby universities and technical colleges, Alogo’steam is creating a network of local mentors who can continue teaching robotics and AI well beyond the initial pilot phase.
Beyond the classroom, the impact of the program is already rippling through communities. In Bauchi, a local mechanic has offered his workshop for after-school tinkering sessions. As word of the initiative spreads, other states are already showing interest. Education officials from Zamfara, Niger, and Taraba have reached out to replicate the model. Alogo is currently developing a digital platform to support remote learning and expand access to curriculum materials, making it easier to scale the program nationwide. He also envisions forming partnerships with international robotics organizations and diaspora professionals who can volunteer as virtual mentors to students across Nigeria.
Yet amid the growing recognition and requests for expansion, Alogo remains grounded. He spends time at the training centers, engaging with students, listening to their ideas, and encouraging them to believe in their capacity to solve problems. It is this human-centered, community-first approach that sets his work apart. His focus is not just on building Nigeria’s tech capacity, but on reshaping the very narrative of what’s possible for youth in underserved regions.
In the world’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, where artificial intelligence and robotics are redefining economies and labor markets, Nigeria cannot afford to have swathes of its population excluded from the future.
